Expedia Travel has received honors and recognition from an array of sources recently, highlighting the travel site's broad appeal and superior customer experience. These awards recognized Expedia Travel's industry-leading customer service and reliability along with a host of new services and features, including a new hotel and lodging section, increased flight searching capabilities, mobile and wireless services, a pioneering privacy policy, and improved customer relationship management initiatives such as registration-free shopping.

For the second year in a row, Expedia.com has been recognized by Deloitte & Touche Washington State Fast 50 for 2002. This award demonstrates how the phenomenal achievements and innovative technology of Expedia have contributed to the overall success of Washington State as a primary hub of progressive companies on the fast track to success. 

Expedia won Editors' Choice in an online hotel booking site review. According to the evaluation, "After checking out all of the sites, Expedia gets our top rating. It has a large number of features and its search technology is second to none." 

The WSA (formerly Washington Software Alliance) recognized Expedia's ESP (Expert Searching and Pricing) technology as the Consumer Product of the Year as part of the state organization's annual industry achievement awards. The WSA saw ESP as significant for consumers because it offers more choice and control by presenting priced itineraries from an industry standard of 8 to 12 to an average of 450 per inquiry. ESP helped Expedia become the largest online packager of travel. 

Expedia was honored for the second consecutive year as one of the Best Mobile Web Sites of 2001. Expedia Travel was one of only two sites to receive the honor this year, and was praised for both its overall user friendliness and the extensive choice and powerful control enabled by Expedia's Expert Searching & Pricing (ESP) platform. "Besides listing the best rates for flights, hotels and car reservations, Expedia has made the search very accommodating with the Start Over button and a handy Change Your Search sidebar for easy stipulation viewing" (Mobile Computing & Communications, January 2002).

In recognition of its overall site quality and superior user experience, Expedia this month was named the Best Travel Web site at The 5th Annual Webby Awards. The Webby Awards are the leading international honors for Web sites and individual achievement in creativity and technology. The awards are presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, which evaluates Web sites based on six criteria: content, structure and navigation, visual design, functionality, interactivity, and overall experience.
